STATEMENT
In my work I utilize the juxtaposition of comfort and tragedy by using forms of media that we all see or hear on a daily basis, be that of pain or pleasure. We live in a world where advertising shows us how happy we can be through print, television, film, the internet, and radio. The idealism that the media portrays, specifically advertising, demonstrates almost to a point of numbness of how we should express ourselves in this, "New World Order".
Specifically I try to digest the issues involved with the mass media and appropriate what is laid out to see on any given day and learn from this. The association of strong critical thought and visual imagery is indeed a tricky issue as the power of the media is overwhelming in it's perception of beauty and truth by the majority of citizens.
The ability to look at my own work in a self critical manner I anticipate to be a never ending process throughout my career as it lends insight to explore my own ideas from an intellectual standpoint. The intrigue art holds in it's fruition, creation to realization is what truly interests me.
